My day started off hectic, I was late- as always 🤷🏼♀️, threw lunchables in lunch boxes and finally got the boys to their grandma’s so I could get to MSU. It was not ideal, I was frustrated and had major anxiety, but as soon as I sat down here, looking at these documents, I felt nothing but calm. My heart is so happy here and I am so blessed that this is my job.
My passion will always be to tell their stories- and by “their” I mean all of those people whose names were written and then forgotten on the pages of these documents. And- they help me too. They calm my nerves, intrigue, teach, excite, and amaze me. Those names- those people, give me purpose, and I’m so honored to be a fly on the wall of their lives through the documents and photos they left behind.
What did I do today? I went to a thesis seminar at MSU and viewed microfilm rolls of Civil War hospital registers that I received from the archives at the University of North Carolina.
